Ultrafabrics, one of the world’s leading animal-free fabric manufacturers is marking Veganuary, with an exciting new range of colours in their Volar Bio range, as well as a beautiful collaboration with Canadian furniture and lighting brand Gabriel Scott.
With veganism quickly on the rise*, more and more people are searching for beautiful, animal-free materials for their home.
Since its inception, 25 years ago Ultrafabrics has always dedicated itself to producing high-end, animal-free fabric for all types of applications including residential furniture to commercial surfaces. Now, Volar Bio fulfils multiple criteria: animal-free, plant-based, easy to clean and beautiful to the touch.
The 6 new colours of Volar Bio launching during Veganuary are: Porcini, Indigotin, Matcha, Café Noir, Pitch Black and Spinach.
Canadian luxury furniture and lighting brand Gabriel Scott has used the Ultraleather range, from Ultrafabrics on its beautiful ‘Bardot’ collection, including these side tables. “As a vegan myself, I am always looking for high-quality alternatives to leather,” says founder Scott Richler. “The feel and quality of Ultrafabrics’ collections were an obvious choice.”
Dedicated to reducing dependency on finite resources, Volar Bio is the first of its kind as it incorporates 29% renewable plant-based materials into its multiple layers and combines subtle organic texturing with a semi-lustrous base. The natural-feeling surface means it can be used to upholster anything from residential furniture to more commercial-based surfaces, yet can withstand serious, frequent cleaning.
Ultrafabrics aims to pioneer innovative materials that conserve resources and protect the wellbeing of people, animals and the planet. Volar Bio marks the beginning of the company’s dedicated journey towards a sustainable future. By 2025, the Ultrafabrics goal is to include bio-based ingredients and/or recycled content in 50% of new product introductions. By 2030, that goal will increase to 100%, with existing collections evaluated along the way. The brand is addressing sustainability from all aspects including product quality, material innovation and transparency.
Volar Bio received the Innovation award in this year’s PETA UK Vegan Homeware awards. PETA’s annual Vegan Homeware Awards recognizes the top designs and innovations for a stylish, cruelty-free home.
For over 12 years now, The International Design & Architecture Awards have supported the global interior design and architecture industry and brought together an elite group of companies and are constantly regarded as “the pinnacle of recognition within the industry.”
The winners will be announced at a live event in London in September 2021.
The Luna series is currently available in satin brass, satin nickel, satin copper, satin bronze and black steel. Existing glass options include blue, California pink, yellow, smoked amethyst, smoked bronze and smoked grey.
