Project Inspiration
Deana Concilio-Lenz has had a successful career in contemporary interior design for over 20 years. She is known for her work as a producer, director, and leader in the industry.
Her firm, Deana Lenz Interiors, has dedicated over eight years to designing and reimagining spaces for a diverse range of decorating clients across the country. She infuses each project with her distinct modern sensibility while deeply understanding her clients' desires. She adeptly translates these visions into timeless and contemporary homes.
In her latest project based in NYC, Deana set out to curate a luxurious, alluring, and comfortable primary bedroom for her clients. Gabriel Scott's Briolette Pendants were selected as bedside lights. They serve as the main focal point of the room with sculptural lighting aesthetic. Opting for the larger light fixture size, Deana aimed to achieve a striking and dramatic effect.
The Briolette Pendant by Gabriel Scott combines sharpness and delicacy, inspired by Scott Richler's jewelry design background. Hand-sculpted then crafted in Gabriel Scott’s Montreal studio, these pendants emit a warm glow diffused through smoked gray glass (as exemplified in this project) or alabaster white double-blown glass.
Gripping its jewel, the brand’s signature metallic prongs, showcased here in satin brass, offer a captivating contrast, though they are also available in nickel, copper, bronze, or black steel.
Like the Briolette Cut diamond, known for its drop shape and numerous triangular or diamond-shaped facets that enhance the stone’s brilliance, the Briolette Pendant features double-blown glass completely enveloped in triangular shapes. This design detail magnifies the fixture’s sparkle and enhances its overall brightness.
“Lighting is of utmost importance in each of my projects. Before transitioning into interior design, I honed my craft as a director and creative director of music videos and content. Lighting, to me, sets the tone and ambiance of a space. It highlights each textile and piece of furniture in a unique way, much like lighting a set.
My favorite aspect of this project was hand-selecting each luxurious textile and witnessing the vintage chandelier create a perfect juxtaposition with the Briolette Pendants,” shares Deana Lenz.
Understanding lighting nuances enhances the room's atmosphere and improves the emotional and aesthetic experience. This makes the design more meaningful for the people who inhabit the space. Lighting plays a crucial role in creating a welcoming and visually appealing environment. It can greatly impact the overall feel and mood of a room.
By paying attention to lighting details, designers can create spaces that truly resonate with their occupants. Through her meticulous selection of materials and keen directorial eye, Deana ensures that every element works harmoniously to create spaces that are not only visually stunning but also intimately connected to the lifestyles and tastes of her clients.
