A Serene Hillside Sanctuary in Hong Kong
Located at 8623 Tai Po Road, this 3,761 sq ft (349 sqm) private residence is a serene and sophisticated retreat nestled in the Hong Kong hills. Designed by the award-winning team at Liquid Interiors, the five-bedroom, six-bathroom home blends jewellery-inspired detailing with upscale, hotel-like aesthetics and refined Shanghainese influences—perfectly echoing the multicultural lifestyle of the family who lives there.
Design Vision: Where Luxury Meets Mindfulness
With floor-to-ceiling windows that open onto sweeping mountain views, the home feels both expansive and intimate. The design centres on moments of calm and connection, where luxury and meaning coexist. Key to this approach was creating areas for mindfulness and prayer: a discreet hallway button reveals a secret prayer room—designed to be beautiful, tranquil, and deeply personal.
The home features many spaces designed for togetherness, including an entertainment room that balances comfort and colour. Soft textures, a sprawling emerald green chaise lounge, and a convertible sofa-bed create an ideal setting for movie nights, while skylit staircases and warm footlights add atmosphere to daily transitions. The grandparents’ suite spans the entire second floor and opens out to a balcony and terrace, blending indoor and outdoor living. The space is brought to life with an accent wall of hand-painted storks and oriental motifs that reflect the natural world.
Lighting as Jewellery: Gabriel Scott’s Signature Touch
A standout design moment in the home is the use of Gabriel Scott lighting, which was thoughtfully integrated to complement the residence’s refined palette. A custom cluster of Luna and Luna Kaleido Pendants, featuring a mix of Aras, Lyra, and Cygnus beads, brings a jewellery-like elegance to the space. Designed in a blend of textured finishes and rich bronze and blue hues, the installation was curated to harmonise with the interior scheme while adding sculptural interest and luminous warmth.
Fittingly named the Jewellery Box project, the home’s concept mirrors the design philosophy of Gabriel Scott founder, Scott Richler, whose background in fine jewellery deeply informs the brand’s aesthetic. His lighting fixtures are celebrated for their exquisite detailing, luxurious materials, and architectural symmetry—qualities that made them a natural choice for this project. The resulting synergy between Liquid Interiors’ vision and Gabriel Scott’s craftsmanship brings a sense of cohesion and refined sparkle to the home, making each space feel like a carefully curated jewel in its own right.
A Multigenerational Haven
The dining room, bathed in natural light from classic arched windows and a long balcony, is further enhanced by the glow of bespoke lighting. In the grandparents’ bedroom, bedside pendants in burnt orange, mustard gold, and soft pinks mimic the warm tones and tactile richness of a jewellery box—an intimate detail that ties the whole design together.
