Custom Welles Steel Chandelier
Inspired by the organic nature of the custom staircase in the West Village Brownstone, this vertical Welles structure was designed as a geometric and free-form silhouette weaving through the openings at each of the building’s five levels.
Consisting of approximately 150 cubes spanning over 10ft x 10ft x 30ft high, this sculptural installation is truly a tailored fit to this unique contemporary project.

The Welles Chandelier is a true representation of Gabriel Scott’s design philosophy - to design and make modular products to custom specifications. The Welles geometry allows the fixture to be built in seemingly infinite configurations with the repetition of a single module.
The form, which is known as a Cuboctahedron, is a platonic solid that, thanks to its geometry, tessellates in space in a way that generates very organic arrangements. Welles fixtures are made by connecting these forms to one another using the triangular faces. As the connections are made to the truncated faces, the result is a sculptural organic structure that simultaneously adopts a geometric expression.
The flexibility of the Welles has inspired designers and architects to develop bespoke versions for projects all over the world.
The Welles Chandelier is available in steel, glass or textured glass finishes. The Welles series consists of chandeliers, pendants, sconces and desk lamps. The collection is the brand's signature piece and is one of our best-selling series.
